DOI Service by The Law Brigade Publishers

What is a DOI?

A digital object identifier (DOI) is a persistent identifier or handle used to identify objects uniquely, standardized by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). An implementation of the Handle System, DOIs are in wide use mainly to identify academic, professional, and government information, such as journal articles, research reports, data sets, and official publications. DOIs have also been used, however, to identify other types of information resources, such as commercial videos.

In layman’s language, DOI is a link that is used to identify a publication and remain the same forever.ย

Why you need DOI?

Since, DOI is a link that is used to identify a publication and remain the same forever even if the original URL changes, it help the publication as well as author to preserve their publication.ย

Some leading institutions mandates authors to preserve their publication using DOI. However, if you think you should do that too, you can request a DOI from us.

Remember, DOI is not a standard of quality. It is just a safety measure and the International DOI Foundation (IDF) does not recommends DOI to be taken as a quality standard.

Beware of Fake DOIs?

doi.org is the official website for DOI.

DOIs are chargeable and CrossRef as well as all Official DOI Agencies charge a certain fee to the publisher for issuing a DOI. However, to avoid paying this fee to DOI Agency and getting a doi.org link, publishers are adopting false measures and is benefitting from the fact that authors are not aware of original DOI links.

How can you identify a fake DOI?ย Original DOI Links starts from doi.org/ and there are many fake DOI issuers in the market that tweak the doi word and add some prefix or suffix to it which authors dont even notice.ย

Fake DOI example: doii.org, doi1.org, doi.com, doi-a.org etc.ย

Original DOI: doi.org

Quick tip: Try to resolve your DOI provided by publishers on the official doi website here https://www.doi.org/ if it does not redirect to your paper, then it is a fake one. Simply ask your publisher to provide a doi.org link.
